Description
Cold, Snowy, Windy
Summer temperatures are from 40 to 60 degrees. Winters are below freezing. It is hard to breathe because there is less air (the air is thinner).
It only rains about 12 inches each year.
There are not a lot of plants because of the weather and the air is very thin. Most plants live close to the ground.
Animals adapt to the cold by hibernating or leaving the mountain during the winter or they have thick fur and layers of fat to keep them warm.
Mountain animals have large lungs to breathe in the thin air.
