California Government

When the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution, they wanted to make sure no one person had too much power. They decided to separate the government into three parts or branches. Each branch has its own responsibility but they all work together to make the US run smooth.

Also, each branch can use it's power to check the other branches so no one branch has too much power. This is what we call the system of "checks and balances".
