Heat
What is Heat?
When two objects with different temperatures are in contact, energy goes from the hotter object to the colder object. Heat is the amount of energy that transfers from the hotter object to the colder object.
The Universe is made up of matter and energy.
Matter is made up of atoms

and molecules (groupings of atoms)

Energy causes the atoms and molecules to always be moving. They either bump into each other or vibrating back and forth.

The moving of atoms and molecules make a form of energy called heat or thermal energy which is in all matter.
Heat is a type of energy that an object has when its atoms or molecules are vibrating rapidly.

The faster they vibrate, the hotter the object is. At absolute zero (-273° Centigrade), vibrations stop and the object has no heat.
