The
new Rosenberg's Department Store, built in an Art Modern design in 1937
after a fire destroyed the old store the previous year.

Partly
in response to concern over diseases plaguing local flocks of chickens
in a town with an economy heavily dependent upon poultry, J.E. Keyes
opened the world's only chicken pharmacy in Petaluma, which sold remedies
for all sorts of chicken complaints.
